I love staying informed on marketing stuff and started watching some videos from best selling author and marketing guru, Seth Godin!  I love his out of the box thinking and a lot of what he talks about is SO relevant to today’s entrepreneur.  Thankfully, Seth gave me some time and answered a few questions about starting a business.  For more information on Seth, visit www.SethGodin.com
Q: Many women want to step out there and create a business to fit their lifestyle but they are so afraid to quit a job or they just think they don't have enough money.  What is your advice for that woman looking to step out there and start her own business to create the freedom she wants?  How do you overcome the fear?
A: Redefine the question. What happens if you start your business instead of watching TV at night or on the weekends? What if your part time business is valuable to your customers that they pay happily and you don't need to raise money to get started? It's easier than ever to bootstrap, to connect, to lead, to offer a valuable service. Access to the internet means access to the world.
Q: In your bio, it’s mentioned that you started many companies that failed- well obviously, you kept going.  What is your advice to get through the tough moments- those moments some people call failure?
A:  I figure the person who fails the most and keeps going, wins. Every failure is a major step closer to the goal... if you make sure that you can keep going.
Q: We’re in recession and so many people are talking about the economy.  But this is also a time of opportunity.  What types of businesses do you see succeeding in this type of economy?
A: Just because the tide is out doesn't mean there's any less water in the ocean.
I think the biggest opportunities for new entrepreneurs are in connecting ideas and people. In organizing events or groups, in being a catalyst where change is valuable.
Don't wait. Start. Pick yourself.
