Now, I ain’t no doctor! Obviously, if you have any
special health conditions, you should always consult your doctor. These are just a few tips from a simple gal! I’ve actually followed these tips personally and have
been able to really maintain my weight and feel good! Here we go:
- No starch for breakfast. Starches just weigh you down! Starting off the morning with a bunch of
starch will make you feel tired earlier! Here’s what I have for breakfast
now: I have a bowl of fruit- either
a plate of watermelon and half of a banana or I have steamed veggies
(learned that one from my PT, Topher
Young- he ROCKS!!) with a protein, like tuna or chicken (I just save
my left overs from dinner).
Starbucks has a spinach feta wrap that is awesome! I usually have that (I don’t eat the
wrap though, I scrape all the goodies from the inside!) with a side of
fruit!
- Eat a salad for lunch and have a
hearty dinner! If you train
yourself to eliminate starch for breakfast and then eat a hearty salad for
lunch, you’re already on your way to giving yourself a chance in your
health journey! Make sure your
salad during lunch is packed with really good veggies and try to use a
clear dressing like balsamic vinaigrette, italian, or just oil/vinegar.
- Limit yourself to one cup of coffee a
day! We all know that caffeine
gives us that false jolt of energy!
But it’s ok…just limit yourself!
Too much caffeine will cause your body to feel dehydrated and it
really affects your ability to focus.
Lots of caffeine also contributes to that fatigued feeling! Try to have it just once a day. You’ll sleep better and feel better.
- Choose healthy drinks. Ok, here we go! All of us are on a different journey in
the drink department! Here’s how I
personally eliminated sugar filled drinks from my diet! I was so hooked on soda and fruity
drinks at one time. Ask my husband!
If we ran out of juice, no matter the time of day, I would go out and get
something- I needed that juice fix! Not any more! My first step was to start replacing soda and high fructose
drinks with more natural juices.
I chose all natural apple cider and all natural apple juice. A lot of these juices still had a lot of
sugar too, but I needed something to help get me started! They also had limited amounts of high
fructose corn syrup. I then started only treating myself ONCE
a day during dinner to a sweet cup of juice. Eventually, I started replacing the juice with water and
eventually, my taste for sugary drinks went away. I can treat myself every once in a
while, however, I can barely tolerate drinking one whole can of soda. It’s 30-50grams of sugar and my body
just can’t even take it!
- Eliminate beef and pork! Try and migrate over to fish and
chicken! The way that beef and pork
sit in your body and rot is AWFUL!
Honestly, I haven’t COMPLETELY cut them out, but I really don’t
have either too often, especially pork.
Chicken and fish are just as tasty and will be just as
filling. So, next time you’re at a
restaurant or even in the fast food line, you’re doing yourself a favor
and choosing a little healthier of an option by eliminating beef and pork.
Here’s the deal: just try to move one step closer
everyday. Eating healthy can be a
daunting task especially for those of us who eat emotionally sometimes! But I guarantee you, healthy choices are a
habit just like poor health choices and once you start making healthy choices,
your taste buds change! You actually
start craving the good stuff and having less tolerance for the bad stuff! Start today…you’re worth it!
